Frequently asked questions

How much will it cost to translate my documents?

If you need a text translating with no formatting requirements (for example a Word document), then I can give you a definitive quote in advance as the price will be calculated purely according to the length of the source text. If your document contains graphics that need translating or has special formatting, then the price will be calculated according to the time spent. I will nevertheless be able to provide a rough estimate of the cost in advance.

How quickly can you return my order?

How long is a piece of string? Depending on how urgent your request is, it can take anything from a matter of minutes to turn around a sentence or two, to many months for a 100-page document that isn’t required immediately. As a general rule of thumb, the longer the document, the longer it will take, while a surcharge may apply for express orders. In all cases, please contact me in advance and we’ll agree a deadline that is mutually acceptable.

Which clients have you worked with in the past?

Without naming names, I have spent many years working for Switzerland’s major banks, a range of Swiss institutions specializing in private and investment banking, the largest insurers and reinsurers in the European market, as well as authorities responsible for the regulation, supervision and provision of Switzerland’s financial market infrastructure.

Which language combinations do you offer?

I translate from German, French and Spanish into English. As my native tongue is English, I only ever translate into this language; this guarantees that the target text will read fluently and idiomatically. If you require a language combination that I do not offer, then please contact me nevertheless; having spent many years in the industry I have built up a wide network of contacts who work with other language combinations and who I would be more than happy to recommend.
